Because we need to be here.
It has been found that LGBTQIA youth comprise nearly 40% of the homeless youth population in the United States being more than twice as likely to experience homelessness as their non-LGBTQ+ peers.
The federal government offers no funding for LGBTQ-specific homeless services.
These facts are just the tip of the problem. Clear statistics show that proper attention and resources are not being given to the LGBTQI youth population about homelessness.
How can I help solve this gap in understanding, and help the vulnerable LGBTQI homeless population?
By educating yourself and those around you on the problem and creating or utilizing pre-existing tools to make a difference, to make a change.
Be the change which you want to see in the world.

Questions to Ponder:
If it’s such a big issue, does the government take care of it?
What demographic and populations are most affected – and why?
Are there enough supports and resources available for the LGBTQI community in the current systems available for homeless youth?
How do you think social workers can help?
